Montgomery and the River Region are blessed to have a number of great counselors and mental health professionals to serve the community. I’m so impressed by and thankful for many of the counselors I know and have worked with in the Montgomery area. After working at two other excellent practices, I am beyond excited to be going into private practice! I’m especially grateful that we have the blessing of locating our office on the amazing Legacy Lakes property in Hope Hull- just a short drive from downtown Montgomery.
Why Legacy Lakes, and why locate outside of Montgomery instead of keeping a more central location? Because in my opinion it is one of the most beautiful pieces of property in the Montgomery area. I am so excited to have the opportunity to see clients in a place where we have the option to walk outside, sit on the porch, or look out the office window at a beautiful lake. It’s always been a dream of mine to see clients in this kind of setting, and that dream has become a reality!
Starting My Own Counseling Practice in the Montgomery area
Several people have asked if owning my own business & practice was something I always wanted. To be honest, it wasn’t something I ever considered. My whole life, (since the second grade) I have wanted to be a counselor, but even after getting my license a few years ago I never imagined “hanging a shingle” of my own. A year ago, Jared and I went on a Soul Care retreat together and during our time there we looked at where we were headed in life and where we wanted to go. During that time, Jared felt led to invest our resources in me and my passion. If you know Jared, you know what a BIG deal this is for my “financially conservative”, risk averse, budget loving husband! If you don’t know him, trust me, it’s big (and also, you should, he’s THE BEST).I am honored and overwhelmed at his support of me and his willingness to help me reach for dreams I didn’t know I could have.
My Hope for Sanctuary Counseling and Our Counseling Services
I am so excited for the possibilities that Sanctuary Counseling and Wellness affords me professionally. I also look forward to having the freedom to make decisions based on what is best for my clients and also be able to consider what is best for me as a clinician, mom, wife and human being! It is my hope that, in time, Sanctuary Counseling and Wellness will become more than a place for counseling, but it will also help to grow authentic community through therapeutic skills groups, book studies, mindful movement classes, and spaces for retreat. I hope you will follow along as I continue to lean into the gifts that I have been given, in order to love and serve others.
