Our Counselors

Sarah G. McCrory, MS, LPC, RPT

Sarah and her husband founded Sanctuary Counseling and Wellness with the idea that a sanctuary represents a place of retreat and rest. She believes that in order to process and work through the difficult things that are a part of our stories, we have to feel safe. Many of us may logically know we are safe, but we may not have FELT safe. It is Sarah’s goal that at Sanctuary you will feel a sense of peace and emotional safety, which will lead to the ability to be yourself and start working on living the life you were born to live.

Sarah has experience working with adults and children with attachment trauma, depression, anxiety, and other challenges.

Sarah earned her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Mobile in 2001 and M.S. in Counseling from Troy University in 2006. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) trained in Theraplay and the Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) model to work with children who have attachment challenges. She also has training in Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization (EMDR), helping individuals process trauma.

Prior to founding Sanctuary in October 2023, Sarah previously worked at Samaritan Counseling Center, SafetyNet Behavioral Health Systems, and Pathways Professional Counseling.

Sarah lives in Montgomery, AL with her husband (Jared), two daughters, two crazy dogs (Mr. Bingley & Charlie), and one temperamental cat (Lily).
